Acrobatic Classes
at Studio One

A physically demanding genre of dance form derived from acrobatic traditions of entertainment.

This discipline places an emphasis on athleticism, agility, strength, control and balance, in order to ensure graceful and effortless movement. As a form it uses transitions in body shape to express feelings and emotions by exercising control over space and movement.

Training in acrobatics complements other dance styles and genres such as Ballet, Modern Jazz, Lyrical and Contemporary. With a strong focus on strength, flexibility and control, this enhances overall technique and precision within a dancer and performer.

Following the British Theatre Dance Association Syllabus in Acrobatics from Preparatory to Grade 8,

our students thrive and continue to achieve exceptional examination results in this discipline.

Acrobatic Squads

Although students will train in acrobatics as individuals, there is an element to the art which involves teamwork, contact work and multiple person builds.

Between the months of November - July our Junior and Senior Acrobatics Squads train on a weekly basis in their respective groups, working together to create spectacular and breath-taking acrobatic routines for our annual showcases and performances.

Membership to this class is by invitation only and our teachers will asses students in their technical acrobatic classes during the Summer Terms and invitations are issued every September.

Being a member of the Acrobatic Squad is considered a privilege and requires additional commitment and time due to the focus on teamwork and collaboration. We request that students maintain a high level of attendance during this period so that as a team we can work safely and consistently together.

Not only does this give students the opportunity to be a part of something unique and fun, they inadvertently improve on skills such as communication, time management, problem solving, self motivation, confidence, critical and creative thinking but to name a few.

Check out some of the videos below of our Senior Acrobatic Squad in action...

Aerial Arts Training

What is Aerial Arts?... Aerial Arts has been refined and developed to create a balanced Aerial Hoop program which covers technical skills, strength, flexibility, safety and spacial orientation equally.

It is highly recommended that these classes are taken alongside regular acrobatic classes and dance training. Training all of these elements together (Aerial, Acro & Dance) will create a well-rounded, strong and confident aerialist.

Aerial Arts at Studio One is led by Miss Rebecca who is a qualified Aerial Arts Instructor.

We have the ability to rig 3 Aerial Hoops of various sizes in Studio 1

with the addition of our portable 'Lollipop LyraPole' which you can see incorporated within

our Senior Acrobatic Squad Routines.

Aerial Classes run on a short course and workshop basis for students age 6-18.

Please head to our 'Workshops' page to book any upcoming training.

It's proven that students who train in Aerial Arts become balanced, strong, flexible, less prone to injury

and are more fearless on stage.

If you are Acro crazy and love being upside down... why not give Aerial Arts a try!
